Selecting The Best Diet - Some Advice

By: MarcBritt19

When it comes to finding the best diet, you have to factor in your own eating habits, medical history and lifestyle. A single diet isn't the best for everyone, so a good diet for someone else may not be good for you, as you may already know. By finding a diet that suits who you really are it will seem a lot less of an ordeal losing weight.

One diet that's very popular is Weight Watchers. In addition to getting a special diet with Weight Watchers, you also get to be a part of a huge worldwide community on the internet that can be accessed 24/7. With Weight Watchers things are kept simple by giving foods points, which are based on different factors like how long it'll take to burn off, what kind of food it is (like a protein or carbohydrate) and how many calories it contains.

Foods that contain more fat and calories will "cost" you more to eat, whereas something lighter in calories will "cost" less, therefore you can eat all foods unlike most diets. Foods that are easier to burn off and are healthier will be chosen by you more as you learn to pick them because of the point system, but you can make your own selections too. It's definitely worth thinking about doing Weight Watchers as it has a history of helping people to lose weight.

If you like the idea of a scientific approach to dieting, the Volumetrics Diet may appeal to you. This is all about the energy density of foods, how many calories a food has compared to how filling it is, and this was started by a nutrition professor called Barbara Rolls. Low in calories and high in volume is a low density food, which is good for losing weight. This is food like fruit and veg. There is an opposite to this, which is high density foods, having lots of calories in a small volume of the food like cookies or sweets. There are 4 categories for the Volumetrics Diet with 1 being the least dense foods and 4 most dense. The first and second groups are what you want to eat the most of.

It is usually wise to visit the doctor before embarking on a diet. To begin with, your doctor can inform you about how much weight you ought to lose to get the optimum health. Also, any other issues that you should take a look at, like cholesterol or high blood pressure, can be pointed out.

A few diets can help to fix these issues at the same time as assisting you with your weight loss. You can also be advised by your doctor on which diets would be good to choose and which would be bad.

Every diet is different for everyone, there is not one diet that's best for all. You have to be patient and give the diet a chance, for one thing. Very low calorie diets are mostly seen as unhealthy unless needed so the best way to lose weight is by doing it gradually and this will help you keep it off.

How To Handle Bad Hair Day

2010 Medium Hairstyles for Women, originally uploaded by arslion.

Let’s face it – everyone has them. Even the celebrities with the picture perfect gorgeous hair probably wake up on some days not knowing what to do with their hair. Hairsprays and mousse can only take you so far but what do you do when it’s a real hair emergency that even the best hair products can’t handle. Well...first of all...take a deep breath and relax. And then...let’s take a look at some of the tried and tested ways of handling a bad hair day.

Talcum Powder
Wake up in the morning and realize your hair looks greasy? And there’s no time for a quick shampoo? This one’s a time-tested method of getting rid of some of that oiliness till you can come home and give your hair a good wash. Take a bit of talcum powder and rub it through your hair. Make sure you don’t take too much though or your hair will become white. The point is to use the powder to absorb some of the grease so your hair doesn’t look limp. Shake your head well so any excessive falls out.

Ponytails
Hair not looking top notch? Well…definitely don’t leave it out then. Pull your hair back in a ponytail instead. For a sporty look, you could go for a high ponytail starting at the crown. But if you want a more laidback look, pull your hair back at the nape. Use hair accessories to add some spice to your look. Ponytails and braids can be sexy too…just try a few styles to see which one looks best on you and you won’t have to panic about bad hair days anymore.

Accessorize
Hair accessories are the best way to take the attention away from bad hair. Pull your hair back in a ponytail and put on a cool hair band. Or wear some funky hair clips to brighten up your style. The hair accessories will focus attention on themselves and no one will notice your “bad hair day”!

Hats
I love hats and they’re the perfect way to cover up bad hair…especially in winter. Depending on what you’re wearing choose a hat that suits your outfit. Baseball caps, golfer hats, summery beach hats or a more stylish hat – whatever the style – they all do a good job of hiding disastrous hair and creating a new look for you.

Scarves
Want to tame your hair but don’t want ‘hat hair’? Well…scarves are a good option. A broad scarf can cover all your hair, and double up as a bandanna of sorts. Or, if you like pick a narrow scarf and use it as headband. Very 70s and very hip!

Combat Tips
Last but not the least…here are a few simple tips to combat those hairy scary days and keep them at bay as much as possible.

• Avoiding Bed Head If you want to avoid bed head and wake up with awesome hair, get yourself some brand new linen and make sure its satin. Satin pillowcases don’t cause much friction with your hair leaving you looking awesome!

• Exposure to Heat Exposure to heat in any form can be damaging to your hair. So protect your hair from too much sun and at the same time, protect it from too much of blow drying, straightening etc. If you must do it, invest in a protective serum that will protect your hair from damage.

• Deep Conditioning Treat your tresses to a regular deep conditioning treatment to keep your hair moisturized and hence less prone to damage.

• A Haircut Last but not the least…if your hair’s really going out of control, get a haircut and tame it. A haircut will get rid of all the dead ends and leave you looking fresh too.

So next time you have a bad hair day, don’t panic…simply think of an innovative way to hide away the flaws and focus attention on the fantastic bits. It’s easy as that!
